Recording

I travelled down to Sunset Park with the band Loosie in 2016 and tracked a live rendition of their song Blank. Loosie is a five-piece band making “fever dream pop” composed by drummer and frontman Alex Kirkpatrick. Their live performances are dynamic and sometimes unpredictably loud and raucous, but can also be haunting and quietly beautiful. They chose one of their more laid-back tunes for this recording and translated it into a more acoustic version with upright bass and a minimal drum kit. It was also fun to embrace the DIY ethos of using a portable and fairly limited set of recording gear for this on-location gig.

Video footage was expertly filmed and edited by Gal Shaya and mixing and mastering was done by bassist Ben Murphy.
